Dr. Flynn loves her job! She was thrilled to start her first practice in Destin in April of 2000. She decided on a feline only veterinary hospital because she thought the idea of giving cats their own facility made so much sense. She loves cats AND dogs, but knew that her calling was in providing a unique experience for cats and their owners.

She graduated from The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. She practiced in several small animal hospitals in the Greater Atlanta area until 1999 when she moved with her family to Destin, Florida. She raised four children here and now adds two daughters-in-law and 3 grandsons to her family.

Dr. Flynn enjoys all aspects of feline medicine, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. She prides herself in taking the time with her clients to educate them about their cat’s needs, such as preventative care, wellness exams for all ages, senior cat needs, behavior issues, or specific diseases.

She is a member of The Miracle Strip Veterinary Medical Society, The Florida Veterinary Medical Association, The American Veterinary Medical Association, The American Academy of Feline Practitioners, and The Winn Feline Foundation.

Dr. Flynn attends at least two continuing education conferences annually, concentrating solely on the current advances in feline veterinary medicine. She gives back to her community by working closely with Feline Friends of Destin, a cat rescue and adoption group.

Dr. Flynn is a proud sponsor of Compassion International. She has supported twin boys in Ethiopia since 2004, and a little girl in Nicaragua since 2013. In her free time, she enjoys long walks along our beautiful coastline, attending Bible Study, but loves to spend time with her grandsons most of all! She lives in Destin with her two kitties, Noles and Nitro, and also claims five clinic cats as her own!

Ryan has become a great asset to the Cat Clinic of Destin since he joined the team in 2014. He is truly a “Jack of all Trades”. He is the first to greet you at the front desk, answer your phone calls, and help you in and out of your car with your cat.

Ryan also is our “manager-in-training”. He is learning how to help keep the clinic running smoothly. He handles all of your ordering requests for your cat’s prescription food or medicine and he can assist in scheduling appointments for all of your cat’s needs. Ryan is in charge of our on-line pharmacy, Vetsource, which allows our clients easier access to medicines and prescription foods. He also handles our social media pages, client outreach, and our website.

Ryan wants to continue his education and is currently pursuing a degree in Small Business Management. He aspires to become a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager.
He’s received continuing education in communication, customer service, and practice management.

Ryan also has a great interest in the experience you have here as a cat owner – and your cat has as our patient. His goal is to make each visit as stress free as possible for all concerned!

Even though his duties are mostly managerial, Ryan also assists Dr. Flynn with the care and treatment of the cats here at the Cat Clinic. He has a special interest in laser treatments and attended a continuing education conference and is now therapeutic laser certified.

Ryan also provides At Home Services for our clients who prefer a home setting for their cat’s continued medical care. For example, He can come to your home to help the older cat who requires weekly fluid therapy or laser treatments for arthritis, or pet sitting while you are out of town. Many of our clients really appreciate this service!

Ryan lives in Destin with his wife, Rachel, and 3 young sons, JJ, Kayden and Owen. Two Feline Friends rescue kitties, Tyrion and Arya, and a Shepard mix, who his middle child named Turtle, round out this very busy household!!

CATImage00047Kay Pichardo – Veterinarian Tech. / Groomer

Kay is a true cat lover. She is our head technician and assists Dr. Flynn with all aspects of feline medicine and surgery. She is your cat’s greatest advocate while here at The Cat Clinic of Destin. No one cares more for the wellbeing of your cat more than Kay! Her nursing skills are excellent and her genuine compassion for each kitty is evident to all. We all love to see the cool cat t-shirts she wears as her clinic “uniform”.

The main reason why she is so popular is because she puts the care of the patients first.  She isn’t an assembly line for grooming.  She is trained in being able to identify early signs of dental disease. She is also trained in being able to recognize symptoms of illness (ear infections) and bring it to our doctor’s attention so that they can make recommendations.

Kay is very interested in learning more and more about feline medicine. She attends at least one continuing education conference annually. She completed an intensive dental lab in New Orleans for veterinary technicians in Feline Dentistry and Radiology. She is now certified to assist Dr. Flynn with all of her dental cases.

Kay wears many hats at our practice! She is the groomer for your cat’s visit to our “Feline Day Spa”. She is very talented with the ever popular Lion Cut, but can do all levels of grooming. She also is the overseer of our “Feline Bed and Breakfast” and makes sure your cat’s stay at our boarding facility is as comfortable as possible.

Kay lives in Niceville with her husband and has one son- but we all say she’s married to her 15 cats, 4 koi fish, and 2 birds! Before coming to the Cat Clinic in 2014, she volunteered with animal rescue groups for 4 years, working with adoptions and animal welfare. In her free time she enjoys her garden, volunteers at her church and with her favorite cat rescue group, Feline Friends of Destin.
